Labrador Retrievers make wonderful family pets. We want to share some of the knowledge and experiences we have gained during our 45 years of Labrador Retriever fun. Labradors are members of the Sporting Group, which means they were bred to work with people as opposed to for people. We love Labradors not only for their broad, blocky heads, strong bodies and otter tails, but also for their intelligence and their loyalty. In the past, Labrador Retrievers have been used for gun dogs because of their good disposition, keen nose and willingness to work in groups. More recently, although still used as a hunting dog, Labs have been used as Seeing Eye dogs and companion dogs because they are easily trainable. They have good temperaments and are intelligent, obedient, dependable loyal and, most importantly, lovable to their human friends.
